Summer league info coming soon. Begins Aug/Sept 2013.
Columbus Event Center hosts roller hockey leagues from September through May each year. Our league seasons are open to boys and girls ages 5 and up. For our 2012-2013 season, age is determined as of July 31, 2013.
Registrations are currently being accepted for our roller hockey leagues. The cost to participate in our roller hockey leagues is $40/player for ages 7 and older, and just $25/player for players under the age of 7. Registrations will be accepted at the Event Center during business hours, by phone (leave a message outside of business hours), or online at any time. Watch for special league registration nights where Event Center staff members can assist with your registration, and be on hand to answer your questions in person. All new roller hockey players will receive a $20 credit toward the purchase of a brand new pair of skates of your choice. Skates must be purchased through the Event Center. Offer is good for all hockey players who are participating in their first league season at the Event Center.
Starting with our 2012-2013 league seasons, there will no longer be an additional deposit of $10 required for use of our jerseys for any sport. We appreciate your assistance with the return of our jerseys by the end of each season. Complete league and registration details are available below:

Age Divisions
Our leagues are open to boys and girls ages 5 and older, including adults. Age is determined as of July 31, 2013 for the 2012-2013 league season. Age divisions will be determined based upon the number of entries. In the event age divisions are combined, players will be kept playing against other participants their same age.
Game Details
Games consist of two 15-minute halves with a two-minute intermission. Teams will be given five minutes of instruction prior to their game each week, focusing on a different hockey skill. Running clock throughout the game, unless the score is within two goals with two minutes or less to play in the game (stopped clock in effect). Games are played 3v3 plus a goalie (four on the floor per team). Substitutions are unlimited and can be done on the fly (during play). Games are played in our state-of-the-art hockey rink featuring professional dasher boards, tempered glass, and protective spectator netting.
Season Schedule
Games will be played on Monday evenings. When possible, younger age divisions will play earlier in the evening. We understand this is a school night, and will not have games running late into the night. Games will be scheduled no more than 45-minutes apart, but we encourage you to have your child(ren) at the rink, suited up, and ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled game.
Team Practices
Each week, teams will be provided five minutes of instruction prior to their scheduled game. This instruction will focus on a different hockey skill or mindset, and will progress with difficulty throughout the season to help encourage growth in the sport. Instruction is provided by a league director who has over 20 years of experience in roller hockey, including multiple appearances in Regional and National Championship tournaments.
Required Equipment
Players are required to wear a helmet with face shield (player 18 & older can choose to go without a shield, although we strongly encourage it), gloves, shinguards, skates, and a hockey stick. Mouthpieces are also required, as they are proven to help minimize the likelihood of a concussion in the unlikely event of a collision. Protective cups (males) are recommended, but optional. Columbus Event Center will provide, at no additional charge, free use of our hockey equipment for league participants. We provide a helmet, gloves, shinguards, and a stick, but will no longer be able to provide skates. All new players are encouraged to take advantage of our $20 skate credit offer, which allows you to order any pair of skates you wish through the Event Center, and receive $20 credit toward your purchase. Columbus Event Center will also provide jerseys for players to use during the season. As for jerseys...
Hockey Jersey Check-Out
Hockey jerseys are provided by Columbus Event Center for use during the hockey season. These jerseys are property of the Event Center, and must be cared for while checked out, and returned to the Event Center upon completion of the hockey season. Starting with our 2012-2013 seasons, there will not be an additional $10 deposit charge for use of the jerseys. Instead, players will be required to return their hockey jersey to the rink by close of business on the final day of their respective league season. Players who fail to return their jersey by the deadline will be billed for a replacement jersey. Because there are as little as two weeks between seasons, we must order replacements immediately to ensure we have enough for each player in the upcoming season. Your help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
How Do I Register?
Players can be registered online through our website using our online registration system. Simply select the appropriate item from our online store, type in the total number of individual seasons in the circle directly left of the 'Add to Cart' button (details instructions and examples are provided on each product page), and then add the item to your cart to proceed. When you begin the checkout process, you will be asked to log in or register for an online account. This account will give you access to additional website features, order history, payment status, and more. Once logged in or registered, you will be directed to the online registration form(s) based upon your selection. Simply complete the form and then complete the online checkout process once redirected back to your cart. Again, complete and detailed instructions, along with examples, are included on each product page. Or, if you have trouble, don't hesitate to contact us for assistance or to complete the registration over the phone.
Our online registration system will allow you to easily register up to three children at once on a single form. And yes, our online registration system will also allow you to register any child(ren) for multiple seasons on a single form. Why keep doing paperwork over and over again? You will receive an invoice about your purchase via email, as well as your own copy of the completed registration form(s) in a separate email. New this year, we have added language to our Terms & Conditions to allow electronic signatures. So, once registered online, you're all set!
Of course, you can also register by downloading a registration form from our website, or by picking one up at the rink. We can also mail one to you if you would like, along with other helpful information about our leagues. Or, we can also take registrations over the phone in just a few short minutes. Registration fees must be paid by the deadline to be included, and late registrants will be placed on a waiting list. Columbus Event Center can accept cash, checks, and credit cards for payment of all registration fees.
I've Registered. Now What?
First of all, thank you for taking part in these great leagues. We appreciate your support, and look forward to getting out in the rink for some hockey! We have created deadlines for our leagues that are approximately one month before the start of the season. This allows us a couple of weeks to sort out players, create age divisions and teams, and put together information for our participants and their parents. Parents and players should be contacted two weeks before the scheduled start date of any league. If, for some reason, you do not hear from us, or do not receive information about the start of the season, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately at (402)562-5663.
