Soccer Playoff Schedule Set

The soccer playoff schedule has been set for next week. The soccer playoff schedule has been set for next week.

We have reached the end of the regular season for our Spring indoor soccer league. While most of the divisions already knew their playoff schedule, there were a couple of games this week that finalized the playoffs, including a tiebreaker in our Under 8 division. Continue reading for the full schedule.

In the Under 14 division, the playoff schedule was already set in stone. The Stingers, who were alone in first place heading into the final week, would automatically play in the league championship game next week at 9am. They will face the winner of the Mean Green and Chili Peppers game at 8am.

In this week's first game, the Mean Green took an early 2-0 lead over the top-rated Stingers, but the lead wouldn't last for long. The Stingers would score 11 unanswered goals to finish the first half with an 11-2 lead. The Mean Green started to make things interesting in the second half, pulling to within five late in the game, but the Stingers held them off for a 16-8 win.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Stingers 11 5 16 Jonathan Bonilla (8), Henrique Adabo (5), Tatem Vance, Sam Trofholz, Trevan Ainsworth
Mean Green 2 6 8 Chase O'Grady (5), Kaitlyn Bargmann, Devyn Glenn, Matthew Hoenk

The Stingers continued to dominate the division in their second game of the day, this time against the Chili Peppers. By the half, the Stingers held a 7-2 lead over the red squad. The Chili Peppers had a better second half. But, for every Peppers' goal, the Stingers had an answer. By the final whistle, the Stingers had won the game by the final score of 14-6.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Stingers 7 7 14 Jonathan Bonilla (4), Grant Bettenhausen (3), Tatem Vance (2), Henrique Adabo (2), Trevan Ainsworth (2), Luis Alarcon
Chili Peppers 2 4 6 Erik Brown (3), Averi Devish (2), Jesus Adame

In the Under 11 division, the Silver Strikers were guaranteed to participate in the championship game next week at 10:45am. Also, the Red Razors were guaranteed to be in the consolation game at 10am. Coming into the week, the Razors were looking for their first win of the season. It would be a tough task, especially against a team who had yet to lose this season. But, the Razors came ready to play. Despite going down by one in the opening minute of the game, the Razors fought back and took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the two teams traded goals, with the Strikers taking the lead midway through the second half. A goal in the 34th minute tied the score at 4-4, and a last-minute goal gave the Red Razors a 5-4 win in their final game of the regular season.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Red Razors 2 3 5 Erick Tadeo (5)
Silver Strikers 1 3 4 Endy Leon (2), Marina Jimenez, Armando Adame

The game between the Blue Dragons and Shadows did matter for next week's schedule. In their first matchup earlier in the season, the Shadows had beaten the Dragons by the score of 9-6. Should the Dragons win today's game by four or more goals, they would advance to the title game. This game was close early on, with the Shadows clinging to a 4-3 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Shadows began to pull away. They built a comfortable lead midway through the second half, and never looked back, en route to a 13-6 win. With the win, the Shadows will play against the Silver Strikers in the championship game at 10:45am. The Blue Dragons, meanwhile, will play the Red Razors in the consolation game at 10am.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Shadows 4 9 13 Oscar Adame (8), Jesus Mendez (5)
Blue Dragons 3 3 6 Madison Jenny (2), Prestyn Engel (2), Benjamin Juarez-Mendez, Ethan Glenn

In the Under 8 division, everything would depend upon the results of this week's games to determine next week's schedule. Coming into the week, the Green Pythons were alone in first by four points. But, the Smurfs had the doubleheader. Two wins by the Smurfs would put them in a tie with the Pythons in points, meaning we would need to go to tiebreakers to determine which team automatically qualified for the championship game.

After the Pythons took an early lead just six minutes into the game, the Smurfs put in back-to-back goals for a 2-1 lead at the half. The two teams traded goals to start the second half, followed by the Smurfs netting three in a row to jump ahead late in the game. The Pythons added one more goal, but the Smurfs held on for a 6-3 win.

With the win over the Pythons, the Smurfs could now secure a spot in the championship game with a win over the Red Strikers in their second game of the day. Head-to-head, the green and blue squads each won twice against each other. However, because the Pythons had won one of the games by seven, when the other three matchups were decided by three goals, the Pythons would win the tiebreaker. It would all come down to their final game of the season to set up the final week's schedule for the Under 8 division.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Smurfs 2 4 6 Jair Tovar (5), Alexandria Freshour
Green Pythons 1 2 3 Angelo Recinos-Tapia, Christopher Adame, Josue Mendez

As mentioned earlier, a Smurfs win would put them in the title game. Regardless of what happened in this game, the Red Strikers will have to play at 11:30am next week for a shot at the league title game. The Smurfs struck first, followed nearly immediately by a tying goal for the Strikers. The Smurfs would add four more to end the first half with a 5-1 lead.

The second half was nearly identical to the first, with each team double up on goals. In the end, the Smurfs had won by the final score of 10-2. With the win, the Smurfs will play next week at 12:15pm for the league championship. The Green Pythons and Red Strikers will play at 11:30am, with the winner advancing to the championship game.

GAME SUMMARY 1ST 2ND FINAL GOAL SCORERS
Smurfs 5 5 10 Jorge Tovar (6), Jair Tovar (3), Israel Robledo
Red Strikers 1 1 2 Zane Beiermann, Elizabeth Rowe

Our Under 6 division will also be back next week for a shoot around and pizza party. So, come hungry and ready for some soccer, too.
