Dodgeball

The Winter edition of our adult dodgeball leagues got underway tonight.  The Winter league features eight total teams, broken down into two separate Mens/Mixed and Coed divisions.  Within the divisions, each team will play the other twice, and all teams will play across divisional lines once on the season.

The Winter season began with the Coed division matchup between the Pawn Stars and Picked Last.  The Pawn Stars were on the scoreboard first.  Picked Last pulled ahead late, and nearly let the Pawn Stars back to within one.  But, by the final buzzer, Picked Last held a 4-2 lead for the win.

The second game had Avenue Bar up against last season's Coed division champions, Cargill's Coolest.  Cargill wasted little time building up a comfortable lead.  Avenue Bar was able to put a couple of points on the board late in the game, but Cargill had already put this one away, 9-3.

Moving into the Mens/Mixed division, the undefeated Mayhem team put their unbeaten streak on the line against the Ballers.  This one was over early, as the Mayhem continued their streak with an 8-1 win to start the season.

The final game of the night had the Balls 'N Dolls taking on Anyone Can Do It Sober.  The two teams kept the score close early on, but Sober eventually pulled away for a 5-2 win.

The league schedule has divisional play and crossover play alternating each week.  Next week, the Coed and Mens/Mixed divisions will mix it up.  The action starts at 6:30pm each week, so stop on out and catch it all live.

The second week of the Fall Adult Dodgeball leagues brought a couple of exciting games.  The night began with a matchup between the Pawn Stars and Picked Last.  The Pawn Stars took an early lead, but found themselves down with just over a minute remaining.  The Pawn Stars tied up the game with one minute left, sending the game into overtime.  In extra time, the Pawn Stars knocked out Picked Last for a 5-4 win.

The second game of the night had the Coed division Shauna's Team up against the Men's division team, Da' Stonerz.  Da' Stoners opened up a big lead and never looked back, en route to a 9-0 win over Shauna's Team.

Da' Stonerz were then back for their second game of the night, this time against another Coed team in Cargill's Coolest.  Despite playing across the divisional boundaries, Cargill held up well against Da' Stonerz, who ultimately won the game by the final score of 6-3.

And, in the final game of the night, the Balls 'N Dolls took on the Mayhem in another close game.  At the final buzzer, Mayhem had won the game, 5-3.

The Fall 2012 Adult Dodgeball kicked off its season Tuesday night.  The league, which plays every Tuesday night starting at 6:30pm, features three Men's/Mixed teams as well as four Coed teams.  All seven teams will play each other at least once, with the schedule weighted so that the majority of games stay within each team's respective division.

We opened the season with a matchup of two Men's division teams, Da' Stonerz against Mayhem.  Da' Stonerz, a new team to our leagues, competed well in the opening minutes of the game.  But, as time wore on, Mayhem came back to take the lead for good, winning by the final score of 6-3.

Mayhem was then back for its second game of the night.  In order to have a weighted schedule, the Men's teams will each play two doubleheaders this season, and also receive one bye week as well.  Mayhem's next opponent was Picked Last, a returning Coed team from our past league season.  Much like their first game, the two teams played close early on, with Mayhem pulling away in the second half of the game for another 6-3 win.

Our only true Coed division matchup this week was between Cargill's Coolest and Shauna's Team.  Cargill wasted little time opening up a lead, and pulled away as time ran off the clock en route to a 6-2 victory in the opening week.

And, in the final game of the night, the Pawn Stars took the Balls 'N Dolls.  The Pawn Stars fell behind early and were never able to recover, as Balls 'N Dolls ran away with a 7-1 win.

Remember, there is no cost to stop on out and watch these games in person.  So, feel free to bring some friends to the Event Center on Tuesdays starting at 6:30pm, and catch the action live.  It's always a great time!
